Study Permit Processing Times for New Admits:Ìý We understand that many newly admitted students and their families are feeling anxious about the extended processing times for study permit applications submitted from outside of Canada, especially for those residing in Europe.

While we unfortunately cannot expedite processing times or intervene directly with individual applications, please know that the university is actively working with government partners to advocate for solutions that will help reduce these delays. In the meantime, we encourage you to:
- Continue to monitor your application through yourÌýÌýand review the postedÌý.
- If your application is past the stated processing time, submit aÌý.
- If you are concerned you will not receive your study permit in time for the start of the term, considerÌýdeferring your admission. Exchange students on a two-term placement can contactÌýService PointÌýor email studentexchanges [at] mcgill.ca for guidance.

For your own protection, please doÌýnotÌýenter Canada as a visitor while your study permit is still pending—unless you are an American citizen or permanent resident eligible to obtain your permit at a port of entry. We know this uncertainty can be difficult, and while we have no influence over IRCC’s processing decisions or timelines, our team is here to provide information, guidance, and support as you navigate this process.
